Successful RFA ablation of large bilateral benign thyroid nodules which was performed at our OCC center.
Our patient has a progressive multi-nodular goiter for almost 10 years. Her goiter was compressing on her airway and even limiting her neck movement. The options offered to her at that time ; were either thyroidectomy ( surgery ) or continue watching. She did not want to do either, especially she is not on any thyroid medications . She was looking for a non surgical option. After a-lot of research almost for two years she found that RFA is the answer. Her main reason to choose RFA over surgery that she did not want to lose her thyroid as it is very vital organ for our body function and metabolism. She also did not want to be on lifelong term thyroid hormone replacement.
Her RFA was preformed in two separate days as she had large nodules bilateral. She tolerated both RFA sessions with no immediate or delayed adverse effects. She resumed her normal life next day after her RFA procedure.
