Welcome to OCC

Our center is an independent medical practice, founded in 1991, offering comprehensive fine needle aspiration biopsy services, diagnostic ultrasound neck scans and therapeutic interventions for thyroid nodules, metastatic thyroid cancer and various neck cysts. OCC is one of the first independent FNA practices established in the United States.

At OCC, we perform over 2,700 procedures each year. Patients arrive at OCC from all over northeast Tennessee and western North Carolina, as well as surrounding states including Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.

At OCC, FNA biopsies are performed and interpreted by three physicians, all of whom are Board Certified by the American Board of Pathology. The doctors have added board certification in Cytopathology and have the College of American Pathologists Certificate for Special Expertise in Ultrasound Guided FNA.

OCC is thyroid center

At OCC, we provide a diagnostic ultrasound scan for head/neck regions including thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary glands. The scans are performed via ECNU certified physicians (Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound), an advanced certification in thyroid/parathyroid ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided biopsy. We also provide detailed cervical lymph node mapping for metastatic malignancy or lymphoma. We also provide early detection of recurrent thyroid cancer.

At OCC, we are the first and only center in the region that provides Neck and Thyroid Ethanol Ablation/ Sclerotherapy and Radiofrequency thyroid ablation. These are therapeutic non-surgical alternatives that can give the patients desirable curative results with no surgery.
